Bags are packed. Gear is prepped. So we are off to ride part of the Great Divide trail in the United States. Will be updating this blog on the road. Look forward to building up some trailers when we get back in October.
Just finished a fantastic day with Jason from Katabatic to get some shots of the trailer for the website. Thanks to Jason for working around our busy schedule to squeeze this in. Can’t wait for you all to see the new shots! Next blog update will be from on the road road testing in America!
This week I’ve been out test riding the new wheels for the trailer, they are great! Big beefy spokes and the new suspension mounts take the big bumps out. Looking forward to writing up the specs for you all to take a look at.
Just made a quick demo video. Take a look at how the trailer can pack away in to itself. Neat. We’ve improved the hitching mechanism – more on this soon…
Taking the aluminium prototype our for another blast. Again it was great to ride with but just not tough enough!
Here is an early prototype being put through its paces on the Otago rail trail in 2011. It’s made of aluminium so super light but just not tough enough! The (cheap) wheel strapped to the top only has a few spokes remaining – ‘I’ve smashed the wheels so you don’t have to’
I was working hard on the latest batch of trailers in the workshop this morning and thinking how far the design a come. Here is what we started with back in 2010! I took it on a tour round Great Barrier Island
